About

✶ ✶ ✶

Everywhere in the world, for all time, people have prepared food together. Communities cut and cooked and stored the harvest so everyone could eat through the winter. Nobody did it alone, because alone it simply couldn't be done.

We don't have to struggle to survive the winter anymore, but raising a family is still hard work, and somewhere along the way it became work we often do without community around us.

Feeding everyone tends to be the part that gets away from me. Good food, real food, allergy rules, prices, the family calendar, meals and snacks endlessly. Most nights I’d be prepping, cooking, and packing for tomorrow from the moment I got home until bedtime, away from everyone and distracted when I was needed most.

Our Story

A woman with long curly hair smiling while holding a baby in an outdoor park with trees and grass.

So I’d compromise, and it's almost always the same compromise: something packaged, something that will at least get food on the table. Then I feel guilty, because I know what's growing not thirty minutes from my house, I’m trained in vegan cooking, and my kids are eating out of a box.

That try-sacrifice-guilt cycle wears a person down, and it made me want to flip the script on how I feed my family. I want to give them great nutrition and tap into my community and region, all without sacrificing my quality time with them.

I created Fedwell Kitchen to put all the pieces back together. We offer classes in plant-forward cooking and communal events like casserole parties and freezer stock-ups. We’re also building meal prep subscriptions and grab-and-go for the weeks when there's no time at all.

What I want to give you is time. If you also make a friend, learn something about nutrition, or just eat something good that you helped cook, that's icing on the cake.

(There are hidden veggies in the cake.)

What We Do

We run cooking classes, where you learn to build balanced, plant-forward meals without a recipe using what's in season, and community stock-up events, where we cook together and everyone goes home with freezer-ready meals for the weeks ahead.

Meal prep and grab-and-go foods are coming soon, with veggie-forward breakfasts, lunches, and snacks ready for pickup.

We're calling in friends and neighbors from Charlottesville, Staunton, Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, and everywhere in between to join us.

How We Cook

Plants First

Our dishes are built around whole, real, plant foods, simply because plants are what nourish people best.

Built-In Balance

Whole grains, plenty of veggies, and plant proteins paired the right way, so you don't have to do the math.

Home-Grown

We buy from Virginia growers wherever possible, and our cooking follows the seasons.
